Palm
Island Estates
Homeowners Association
Board Meeting
November 30, 2009
Firehouse
Present: York,
Malone, Kett, Madden,
Peacock, Milroy, Gordon,
Connors, MacArthur,
Peterson
Absent:
Bieneman, Mackin
Guests: Aulenti,
B.DeYulio
The meeting was called
to order at 5:05 PM by
President, Don Milroy.
Robin Madden made a
motion to accept the
minutes and Treasurer’s
report. Seconded by
Susie Kett and passed
unanimously. Pat Gordon
noted that the Art in
the Palms barge fees had
not been deposited into
the Scholarship fund as
she wanted a vote from
the Board to approve the
transfer. Carol
Peterson made a motion
to approve the
transfer. Jackie York
seconded the motion and
it was passed
unanimously. It was
noted that Jennifer
Witter had hosted a
Halloween party for kids
and should be reimbursed
$50 for pizza. Kim
Peacock made a motion
give Jennifer up to $50
if she could supply
receipts. Robin Madden
seconded. Vote was
unanimous with one
abstention from Susie
Kett. Robin will follow
up with Jennifer. Next
year’s board will
discuss funding the
Halloween party as there
are very few young
children on the island.
Art in the Palms
Wrap-Up
Art in the Palms was
very successful. Net
profits were up by
$2550.84 over 2008.
Much of the increased
profit was due to the
Silent Auction.
Hamburgers and hotdogs
were higher quality than
last year. The Rum Bay
shuttle brought good
business to their
restaurant. The board
needs to discuss having
the shuttle next year as
many people want to go
to Rum Bay to eat.
Dick Aulenti and Barbara
DeYulio had additional
comments:
-
The band was too big
and too loud for a
small event. Consider
a steel drum band or
DJ in the future.
-
It was good to have
the beer and wine
separate.
-
There was much too
much trash. We need
to think more “green”
and provide recycle
bins.
-
Need to re-think the
gumbo and work toward
having more “portable”
food that people can
walk around with.
-
Need to differentiate
water/sodas and
beer/wine. Too much
money for sodas and
water and not enough
for beer and wine.
-
Artists complained
that the Silent
Auction ended too
early causing people
to leave and not
continue to shop. The
Board consensus was
that it wasn’t the
timing of the Silent
Auction as much as the
striking down of the
tent and tables. We
need to leave the
tables, tents and
signage up until the
end of the show.
New Business
The PIE Annual Meeting
will be on January 31,
2010 at 1 PM.
The Street Dance will be
on January 30th
at the Malone’s house.
PIE will donate $125 to
the Golf Cart Parade on
New Year’s Day. Motion
made by Jack MacArthur,
seconded by Kim Peacock
and passed unanimously.
It was noted that PIE
does not sponsor the
parade.
The Nominating Committee
is seeking candidates
for the PIE Board.
Carol Peterson’s term is
up and she is not
continuing on the
board. We need 3 new
directors to bring the
board to its maximum of
15. The Nominating
Committee will talk to
Jodi and Jeff Minitte,
Cheryl and Kevin
Stephens and Kathy Crow.
The meeting was
adjourned at 6:15 PM.
