Board Meeting

June 1, 2009

 Attending:  Don Milroy, Pat Gordon, Carol Peterson, Kim Peacock, Rose Malone, Robin Madden, Ken Conner, Pat Bieneman

 Don called the meeting to order at 5:02 pm.  Minutes for the May board meeting and the Treasurer’s report were accepted.

 OLD BUSINESS:  

• Meeting with Dawn Harrison, Charlotte County Public Works 5/8/09.  Don, Ken, and Jack had lunch with Dawn at Rum Bay and Ken and Don also took her for a tour of the island.  A summary of their discussions follows.   Dawn believes that the county has outlawed traffic calming devices – she will confirm.  The county landscaping is to be maintained quarterly.  She is going to send the supervisor out to look at the roads.  She went over the budget with them and covered the spending to date.  Ken and Don will develop a list of questions to submit to the County regarding future plans for the island.  The answers will be put on the web site.  This should help dispel the many rumors circulating around the island.

• Community Bulletin Board.  Thanks to all the people who helped move and install the community bulletin boards:  Ken Conner, Don Milroy, Jack MacArthur, Danny Kett, and Ken Mingerink.  Glass doors will be installed in the next few days.  Carol will make up a card to post on the board – no Realtor postings.

• No Fires Allowed Sign.  Dawn Harrison will have County install a sign.

• Art in the Palms.  The date was changed to November 14 due to a scheduling conflict with the Venice Art Festival.  One artist cancelled due to the change in date.  Kim will do advertising when she returns in September and will email Art in the Palms silent auction donation letters and forms to board members in September.

Don adjourned the meeting at 5:41 p.m.
