Don called the meeting
to order at 5:02 pm.
Minutes for the April
board meeting and the
Treasurer’s report were
accepted.
OLD BUSINESS:
-
House
numbering. The board
accepted the bid of
Signs in One Day. We
will advertise via
email blast that
islanders can order
house number signs
from them.
-
Community Bulletin
Board. Will be
installed after Curtis
finishes taking down
the pine trees at the
corner.
-
County
Landscaping by bridge
not being maintained.
It was noted that the
county is now
maintaining the
landscaping.
-
Speeding on Gulf
Boulevard. The Board
will explore “traffic
calming” through the
installation of speed
tables and Don will
ask the county for an
estimate of the cost
involved.
-
Blind
Corners at
Interesection of Gulf
and S Gulf Blvd. One
side of the
intersection has been
trimmed and the other
will be done by Jack
MacArthur and Ken
Conner.
-
Upgrade web site
software / email
attachments. The
developer promised it
would be ready by the
next meeting. Will
also include a message
board on the web site
-
Fire
Department Projector.
Don has asked Bill
Peterson to provide
more specific
information (make and
model) of the
equipment they would
like PIE to purchase.
NEW BUSINESS:
-
PIE
Merit Scholarship
award. One
scholarship was
awarded this year to
Charlie Russo.
-
No
Fires Allowed Sign.
Ken suggested that we
put a sign on Gulf
Blvd notifying
visitors to the island
that no open fires are
allowed on the beach.
At Friday’s meeting,
Don and Ken will ask
how much installation
of a sign will cost.
-
The
Board wants to thank
everyone who
volunteered for the
Easter breakfast and
for the Lights Out
Turtle Party. Both
events were great
successes.
-
Art in
the Palms. Discussed
reconfiguring so
silent auction gets
more traffic. Also,
it was discovered that
we had scheduled the
event (Nov 7th)
for the same weekend
as the Venice Art
Festival. There was
some discussion about
whether the conflict
would hurt our event
or not.
-
Kevin
suggested that PIE
consider paying for
the Turtle Patrol hats
and shirts. No
decision was made.
-
Next
scheduled Board
meetings. June 1st
will be the last
meeting before
summer. The first
meeting in the fall
will be October 5th.
Don adjourned the
meeting at 6:03.
Respectfully submitted,
Pat Bieneman
