Board Meeting
October 6, 2008

Attending: Board
Members Don Milroy, Pat
Gordon, Rose Malone, Pat
Bieneman, Kevin Mackin,
Gay Carrozo, Mike
Spallone, Suzy Kett, Ken
Conner, and Kim
Peacock. Also
attending: Kathy
Sadenwater and Sally
Mingerink.
Don called the meeting
to order at 5:02 pm.
September minutes were
accepted. The
Treasurer’s report was
accepted.
Don said that he had
contacted Linda Jones to
let her know the Board
had accepted her
resignation.
Don reviewed trash
collection. Trash and
yard collection started
today. Next week,
recycling bins (2 per
household) will be
delivered. Also, Don
will verify, but Nov 22nd
will be “Island Clean Up
Day,” which will be free
pick-up of large items.
We need to pick a
“target” (appliances or
furniture, etc.) Don
will confirm choices and
date.
Art in the Palms:
Suzy has already spoken
to Billy Caldwell about
using the lot.
Kim said 36 artists are
currently signed up.
She reviewed advertising
in the Sun: PIE is
paying $351 for three
ads. The Sun is
donating an additional
three ads. Radio
advertising is still
being worked out. Cost
will be $150 for a $300
package.
Signage – Don and Suzy
will investigate.
Food: Suzy has it all
taken care of. Tim and
Rose will do the
shopping.
Entertainment: Kevin
reported that Charlene
negotiated $500 for
Impulse. Board members
voted to split the
cost. PIE will pay
$250, and Kevin and
Charlene will donate the
$250 deposit.
Electric: Kathy
Sadenwater reported that
she and Dick will be out
of town for the event.
However, Dick will set
it up and it can be
dragged to the location
the day of the event.
Parking: Don reviewed
the parking situation.
Barge Fee Collection:
Kathy Sadenwater said
that if PIE would
approve that the $2
ferry fee goes to the
Scholarship Fund,
Friends of PIE would
staff the fee
collection. The board
approved the fee going
to the Scholarship
Fund. Kathy will
coordinate it and
appoint someone to be in
charge in her absence.
Moving of area: Suzy
has it taken care of.
No “de-bugging this
year.
Suzy also reported that
she will arrange for
Port-a-Potties.
Dalzells will do the
booth layout. Carol
will do coffee &
donuts. Barb will
handle volunteers. We
will do the Pizza
gathering the night
before.
Don reviewed Silent
Auction items will Board
Members. He suggested,
and everone agreed to
start it at 10 am and
close it at 2 pm to
encourage more to take
part.
AIP set up will be at
noon on Friday, the 7th.
Pat Gordon reported on
October 18th
Island Beach Cleanup.
Meet at 8:30 between the
bridges. Clean-up is
between 8:30 and 11:30
a.m. Teams will draw
for accesses. Jim
Gordon and Bill Peterson
will take the trash to
the dump. She will talk
with Rose and Suzy about
a location for cookout
after the clean-up.
Don acknowledged that
the Children’s Home
Society Tournament email
should not have gone out
under “PIE President”.
Don adjourned the
meeting at 6:05 p.m.
