Board Meeting

June 2, 2008

Attending:  Board Members Don Milroy, Carol Peterson, Pat Gordon, Rose Malone, Mike Spallone, Suzy Kett, and Kim Peacock.

Don called the meeting to order at 5:05 pm.  May minutes were accepted.  Treasurer’s report was accepted. 

Don said that unless anyone had other business to discuss, the focus of the meeting was “Should PIE continue to sponsor the Scholarship Program for Island kids”?

Don read Linda Jones’ emailed comments.  Pat Gordon read parts of Friends of Pie Scholarship documents.  PIE has about $12,830.00 in the Scholarship Fund, which must be spent on scholarships, regardless of whether it continues the program beyond that.

Board members discussed various aspects of the program.  Carol moved to vote on continuing the Scholarship Program.  All voted to continue the program.

Board members also unanimously voted to modify the requirement that the family be a PIE member for two consecutive years prior to submitting an application for a scholarship.

Additionally, board members committed to clarify and codify ALL of the criteria for scholarship eligibility by the end of this year.

Don said the next meeting will be Monday, September 7^th and will focus on Art in the Palms Silent Auction donations.

Don adjourned the meeting at 5:40 pm.
