Don called the meeting
to order at 5:04 pm.
April minutes were
accepted. Treasurer’s
report was accepted.
Pat also gave a Project
Report on the BBQ Spring
Party. Don noted that
“Change ($300) under
Expenses should also be
noted under Income to
balance out.
Don gave update on the
upcoming Town Hall
Meeting about trash
removal service. It was
decided that he would
send an reminder email
to PIE members, which
would give background
information.
Kim reported that only
one person remained on
the PIE Directory, who
is not a paid-up
member. She will delete
him from the Directory.
Friends of PIE. Don
read a resignation
letter from Kathy
Sadenwater. Board
members discussed the
letter with some input
from Barb to discern the
status of Scholarship
Committee vs Friends of
PIE. Members decided to
discuss the issue under
New Business.
Kim reported on Art in
the Palms, saying that
Rose Malone had agreed
to be in charge of AIP’s
Silent Auction. Kim
distributed Auction
Donation Forms. Don
talked about each Board
Member collecting
donations. It was
decided that Kim should
send an email to all
members asking them to
solicit Auction
Donations.
Don gave an update on
Beach Walkovers and
Beach Accesses. They
are “on hold” until
after Turtle Season (Nov
1).
Don talked about the
Community Bulleting
Board. He and Ken will
move existing PIE
Bulletin Board to the
Gazebo. He and Joe
DeYulio will build a new
Community Bulletin Board
for installation by the
Gazebo. Community
Bulletin Board will be
larger than PIE Board
and is to be used by all
islanders to post items
and services for sale
and other non-PIE
postings.
Water Outage
Notification. Don has
been unable to get a
return call from Craig
Noden. He will
readdress it when Craig
returns to the island.
Board members discussed
having an Island Bridge
Party and set the date
for Saturday, October 18th.
Suzy will plan to use
the currently budgeted
$500 and let the Board
know what other funds
may be needed.
Under New Business,
board members discussed
the Scholarship
Committee. Conclusions
were that:
* Scholarship Committee
has disbanded and asked
that Scholarship
Committee functions and
decisions revert to the
PIE Board. Friends of
PIE still wants to raise
money to give to the PIE
board for Scholarships.
* The $10,000 now in
Scholarship Funds must
be used for such. Pat
Gordon volunteered to be
the interim Scholarship
Chair.
* Board members needs
to decide if, beyond the
current $10,000, the
Scholarship Program, and
the collecting of funds
for it, should continue.
Don asked that board
members write down their
“pros and cons” and be
ready to discuss it at
the next meeting,
scheduled for June 2nd.
On behalf of the Board
and all island students,
Don thanked Kathy
Sadenwater and the
Scholarship Committee
for their hard work and
dedication.
Don thanked Rose Malone
for all of her work
putting together the
Spring BBQ Party.
Rose talked about an
idea to have an Internet
Communication Message
Board. More to come
next month.
Don adjourned the
meeting at 6:03 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Kim Peacock
