Bob Horswill gave an Environmental Committee update.  He showed a diagram and explained the plans for the new project at the Ferry Landing.  The committee is recruiting students to work on the project, which will cost approximately $500.  Water testing has been turned over to Steve Osborn.

Suzy Kett and Kim Peacock gave an Art in the Palms update:  “Calling all Artists” press release sent, Packages sent to artists, Artist Confirmation Form developed.  Further planning and action is slated for September.

Kim gave an update on Dogs on the Beach signs.  Suzy gave an update on the Island Signs.

Meryl outlined the situation with the 5 Public and 13 Private Beach Accesses on the island, explaining that the Private Accesses are not deeded.  After much discussion, Don made a motion to obtain three competitive bids for the surveying of Beach Accesses.  Leslie seconded.  The motion passed with one vote dissenting.

Carol asked the board members for input on the Plan Regarding Water Outages put forth by a PIE member.  After much discussion, the board decided that this was not a matter that PIE should handle.  Instead, the board should encourage the PIE member to pursue the request with the appropriate governmental agencies.  Other actions discussed and encouraged:  Individuals should call and email the utility, information should be put into Spindrift, and PIE can offer to circulate information to members via the PIE member email list.

Sharon moved to adjourn the meeting.  Steve seconded.  Meeting was adjourned at 5:55 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Kim Peacock
