P.I.E. Board Meeting Minutes
May 2, 2005

Present:   Bob Horswill, Cassie Ator, Susie Kett, Gay Carozzo, Kim Peacock, Meryl Schaffer, Pat Gordon, Sharon Porro, Valerie Guenther, Steve Osborne
Absent: Carol Peterson, Kevin Mackin

Meeting called to order 7:05p.m. by Vice President Sharon Porro.  A motion to approve the April 4 minutes as written was made by Susie Kett and seconded by Kim Peacock.

 Old Business:
Treasurers Report was read by Pat Gordon. Balance in the checking account is $13,338.56.  Scholarship Fund - $4,624.61; Strong Fund - $2,085.36; Action Fund - $14,805.03. Pat reported a profit from the Cheeseburger party of $1,054.64.

 Kosinski Bridge - The new analysis is complete the results will be coming soon. This will be available on the web site.

 Committee Reports:

 Social Committee - Susie Kett reported that the party was a great success with 115 people in attendance. Thanks to all who volunteered.

 Scholarship Committee - Sharon Porro reported that work is in progress for a new fund raiser to help raise money for scholarships.

 Environmental Committee - Bob Horswill reported that they have raised $185.00 with the WHPP Packets. The “Island Scapers”, the name designated for the the Garden Club, has many interested participants with a President - Gisella Allen, Vice President - Barbara DeYulio. Many exciting projects and beautification of the island.

 New Business:

 The Island Action Fund is the new name of the old Island Legal Fund.

 An additional bulletin board location in order reach more islanders is needed, the place will be determined at a later date. There was a motion to spend $300.00 made by Meryl Schaffer and seconded by Pat Gordon, it passed unanimously. Susie Kett volunteered to take charge of this.

 It was moved and seconded by Susie Kett and Meryl Schaffer to send Ron Plotkin a bouganvilla and a thank you for his support in the letter writing for the last fund requests.

 A discussion about the trash and the containers located on the beach was held and it was decided to table this discussion until later. Valerie will talk to Curtis Kilborne and No Excuse for ideas, Bob Horswill will talk to Wayne at the Resort .

 Summer Projects/Parties:   1. Memorial Day Picnic on the beach 2.Valerie and
 Gil Guenther Party at their home on June 4 to celebrate Valerie’s Mother’s
 birthday and benefit the Land Trust 3. the June 11 meeting with Wayne Sallade
 of Emergency preparedness to discuss hurricane awareness.

 Art in the Palms: Plans are underway - Kim Peacock and Gay Carozzo report
 we are working toward a bigger and better project. Artist Procurement letters
 are going out . The event will be held at Pinfish Point on Saturday, Nov. 12 from
 10a.m. to 4p.m. There are ideas for money making booths.  All are encouraged
 to find items for the Silent Auction.

 A motion to adjourn by Kim Peacock and seconded by Steve Osborne was
 passed unanimously
at 8:30p.m.
