Board Meeting
April 7, 2008

Members Don Milroy,
Carol Peterson, Pat
Gordon, Pat Bieneman,
Rose Malone, Ken Conner,
Gaye Corozzo, Mike
Spallone, and Kim
Peacock Also present
was Jay Julian.
Don called the meeting
to order at 5:00 pm.
March minutes were
accepted. Treasurer’s
report was accepted.
Matt DeBoer gave a Power
Point Presentation about
the proposed Thornton
Key Environmental Land
Purchase.
Budget was unanimously
approved.
Kim gave a brief update
of the membership
directory versus paid
memberships.
Kim read the letter
prepared by Kathy
Sadenwater of the
Scholarship Committee,
which asked for board
approval of four
candidates. There were
concerns about the
community service
requirement of candidate
1. After much
discussion, board
members unanimously
voted to approve only
candidates 2, 3 & 4.
Kim will speak to
committee about
documentation and
community service issue
regarding candidate #1.
Kim gave a brief Art in
the Palms update. The
need for starting on
early acquisition of
silent auction donations
was discussed.
Jay Julian said that
Wayne Saladay wants to
do an Emergency
Management
presentation.
Discussion ensured
regarding the width
requirement of beach
walkovers to
accommodate emergency
vehicles.
Rose Malone gave an
update on the April 12th
Dinner Dance/Barn Burner
event. Set-up will be
at 12 noon.
Don discussed the new
service developments
with Waste Management,
saying that islanders
now pay $225 annually
for one day of trash
collection. New
proposed service would
be built into the tax
rate. The new service
would cost $328.20 and
cover one day of trash
collection per week and
an additional day of
yard clippings
collection and also
recycling collection.
Don gave an update on
Panama Parking.
Carol discussed the
clean up of beach
accesses. She has a
quote from Curtis of
one-time clean up and
haul away of the
accesses for $1,050.
Carol will see how soon
Curtis can start. She
will coordinate the
removal of plants by
Islandscapers and the
clean-up by Curtis.
Don said that Dean wants
the PIE Bulletin Board
relocated near the
gazebo at the ferry
landing. Don also
talked about a Community
Bulletin Board, which
Joe DeYulio volunteered
to build from scratch.
Don will coordinate both
efforts.
Don gave a brief update
on water outage
notification.
Carol discussed house
numbering issues. Carol
now has various county
lists and will continue
working on the project.
Pat reported house
number sign quotes: 18”
x 7” – white PVC
with green reflective
house numbering on a 2x2 30”
pressure-treated painted
post: $25 each.
Bridge Celebration
Party: Board is
postponing discussion
and decisions until it
is clear when bridge
will be finished.
Don talked about which
roads would be paved as
a part of the bridge
project.
Carol discussed the
county hearing slated
for the next day,
Tuesday. The meeting
and vote would decide on
new height and set-back
codes and requirements.
Meeting was adjourned at
