Board Meeting
April 2, 2007

Members Carol Peterson,
Don Milroy, Suzy Kett,
Bob Horswill, Pat
Gordon, Leslie O’Hara,
Gaye Corozzo, Meryl
Shaffer, Mike Spallone,
Pat Bieneman, and Kim
Peacock
Carol Peterson called
the meeting to order at
5:05 pm.
Carol talked to Board
Members about using and
following the New Rules
of Roberts Rules of
Order, a less cumbersome
and less formal
version. She discussed
the basic differences,
and Members agreed.
Don moved to approve the
March meeting minutes.
The Minutes were
accepted.
Pat gave the Treasurer’s
Report. Don moved to
approve the Report. The
Report was approved
unanimously.
Suzy explained the Elvis
Fundraising Event
scheduled for April 21st,
and asked that Board
Members arrive at 6 pm,
when the event begins.
Carol talked about the
Pancake Breakfast at
Rose & Tim Malone’s
house and asked for
volunteers to help set
up.
Carol discussed Dogs on
the Beach Signs, saying
that as part of the
Beach Renourishment,
they are required.
Charlotte County will
pay for all or part of
the signs. The County
requests two additional
signs. Also, the County
is hiring off-duty
personnel to provide
Palm Island with 120
extra hours of beach
patrol. Don will talk
to Missy Christy about
the signage.
Bob talked about the
Native Plant Garden
slated for the south
side of the barge
landing. He also
discussed the Mangrove
Workshop scheduled for
April 9th.
Carol will email members
about the workshop.
Carol brought up the
Dune Walkovers issue.
Members discussed the
need for Dune Walkovers
versus Post & Ropes to
delineate and maintain
recently surveyed Beach
Accesses. Mike moved to
start the Post & Ropes
project ASAP. The
motion passed
unanimously. Don will
work on this project.
Mike will use his
research and evaluate
the Dune Walkovers
issues. He will suggest
to the Board how they
should be done.
Carol discussed the
Island Action Fund, and
if the Board should
draft a defining
document detailing what
it is for and how it
should be used. Board
Members also discussed
asking the membership
for approval to move the
current funds over to
the operating fund. The
issue was tabled.
Bob talked about Water
Testing, saying that he
thinks he should see if
he could get the County
to conduct water tests.
Kim moved to have Bob
work with the County on
this. The motion passed
unanimously.
Carol adjourned the
meeting at 5:58 p.m.
