Pat
Bieneman
I moved to Palm Island
fulltime in 2004 with my
husband, Peter, from
Orcas Island in
Washington State’s San
Juan Islands. We were
seasonal residents for
three years prior to
moving to the island.
We live in Hidden Cove
Estates on the north end
of the island, and I
serve as our homeowners’
association treasurer
and as a member of the
Board of Directors. I
am a Realtor with
Coldwell Banker Sunstar
Realty’s Englewood
office, and am a member
of the Technology
Committee of the
Englewood Area Board of
Realtors. Prior to real
estate, my husband and I
owned a fundraising
distribution business in
Washington State for 16
years. During that
time, I served multiple
terms on the Board of
Directors and/or as an
officer of that
industry’s trade
association and chaired
their Public Relations
Committee for 8 years.
I love this island and
believe it is important
to be actively involved
in and give service to
our island community.
Gay
Pierson Carrozo
Gay is from Rochester
New York. Went to
boarding school in
Greenwich, Conn.
(Rosemary Hall). Went
to Eastman School of
Music (voice major).
There two years. Went
to the University of
Florence, Italy as a
voice major. Met my
husband, Bill Carrozo,
in summer stock theatre,
married three years
later. Two children,
Bill and Charley, two
grandchildren, Heather
and Matt. EMT on
volunteer ambulance in
Pittsford, NY (also
served on the Board of
Directors). Also on
Board of Directors of
Palm Island Village #1.
Teacher – 3,4,5
year-olds. Helped start
Nursery Schools in city
schools. Lead parenting
skills twice per month.
Enjoy sports and bridge.
Pat
Gordon
I have been a full time
resident of the island
since 1997; but have
owned a condo and
vacationed here since
1983. I have served 4
years of the PIE board
previously as Treasurer
and President. I have
been a member of the
Advisory Committee and
have volunteered on the
Island Turtle Patrol for
9 years, as well as
being a Don Pedro Island
State Park volunteer for
4 years.
I am retired so would
have the time to devote
to the board. I am most
passionately concerned
with maintaining the
island lifestyle and
habitat as it currently
is. I would prefer if
we could go back to the
way it was 7 years ago;
but realize that is not
realistic. The next
best thing then, is to
hold the line for where
we are right now and not
lose any more ground.
Susan
Kett
Susan has been a member
of the PIE board and is
seeking re-election for
a 4th term. She is a
full-time resident on
Don Pedro and in her
other life, taught at a
high school in Ann
Arbor, MI. Susan now
teaches bridge to a
class of about 15
Islanders. She is the
chair of the Social
Committee of PIE, has
been active in all PIE
activities and enjoys
being involved in
planning Island events.
Kim
Peacock
My
husband, Don Milroy, and
I discovered these
beautiful islands 2 ½
years ago. Choosing
this for our retirement,
we bought a unit in
Colony Don Pedro and two
lots. We’re now
building our “dream
home” in the Preserve of
Don Pedro. For the last
15 years, I’ve been
running our nut
processing and
confections
manufacturing company
located in Texas.
Previously, I managed
public relations
departments for several
large corporations.
I’ve also served
multiple terms on the
Board of Directors of
the Arlington, Texas
Chamber of Commerce. I
serve on the PIE board
as
Secretary
and I am also the
webmaster of
www.piecesofpie.org. I
think that PIE should
remain a non-political
entity on the island. I
think that any board
member’s role should be
to serve the interests
of the majority of
residents; to improve
what we have while
maintaining and
protecting the natural
and peaceful nature of
the island.
Mike
Spallone
I was born in Elmira,
N.Y. in 1955. The
oldest of seven, I
attended college at
Saint Bonaventure
University, graduating
in 1979. Following
graduation, I began
working at the Chicago
Mercantile Exchange as a
futures trader. My
wife, Kim, and I have
been married for 24
years and we have 3
daughters and 2 sons who
range in age from 13 to
23. As a resident of
Deerfield, Illinois, I
was actively involved in
the church and the
community. I was a
Booster club member for
15 years; I also ran the
annual Christmas
Fundraiser in 1999 and
2000. In addition, I
was a part of the
leadership committee
that successfully raised
$7.9 to rebuild Holy
Cross School and church
from 2001 – 2004. In
1999, we purchased a
home on Knight Island.
In 2005, Kim and I made
a career decision to
leave my profession and
move to the island
full-time. Kim entered
the real estate business
and I stay home and
raise our 3 youngest
children. We believe
the quality of life for
us and our children was
one of the major factors
for moving here. As a
permanent resident with
more free time, I’ve had
the opportunity to gain
an understanding of the
“pulse of the island”.
Through this insight, I
will listen and convey
some thoughts towards
the general direction
our island populace
pursues.
